Pastoral Care

Dear Parents, Pupils, and Community Members,

We are thrilled to take this opportunity to highlight the significance of pastoral care in our school and shed light on the invaluable role our pastoral team plays in nurturing the well-being of our pupils. . At Starling School, we firmly believe that a robust pastoral care system is essential for the holistic development and success of every individual.

The primary aim of our pastoral care program is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We recognise that education extends beyond textbooks and assessments; it encompasses the growth of the whole person. Through our pastoral care initiatives, we aim to create an inclusive, caring, and compassionate community that promotes positive mental health and well-being.

Our dedicated pastoral team plays a pivotal role in implementing our vision of holistic development. Comprising passionate teachers, counsellors, and support staff, this team is committed to understanding and meeting the unique needs of each pupil. They provide guidance, support, and a listening ear to help our pupils navigate the challenges they may face during their educational journey.

One key aspect of our pastoral care program is the focus on secondary school transition. We understand that moving from primary to secondary school can be a significant milestone for pupils, often accompanied by a range of emotions and adjustments. Our pastoral team works diligently to ease this transition by organising orientation programs, peer mentoring initiatives, and workshops that address the concerns and anxieties of our pupils. These initiatives aim to foster a sense of belonging and ensure a smooth integration into the secondary school environment.

We encourage parents and guardians to actively engage in their child's transition process.

Furthermore, our pastoral care team collaborates closely with subject teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support for our pupils. Regular meetings, workshops, and training sessions are conducted to enhance the skills and knowledge of our pastoral staff, enabling them to offer effective guidance and counselling to pupils. We believe in the power of partnership, and together, we strive to create an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

In conclusion, pastoral care lies at the heart of our educational philosophy at Starling School. We firmly believe that nurturing the well-being and social-emotional development of children is crucial for their success in academics and life. Our dedicated pastoral team, in collaboration with our teachers and parents, is committed to creating a safe environment where pupils can flourish.
