STRANGER DANGER (part 1) #starlingschool

Children come in contact with strangers from time to time and it’s our duty as parents to teach them how to handle strangers and how to protect themselves from dangerous situations. When we talk to our children about strangers, how do we explain to them who a stranger is? They should know that people who we don’t know are regarded as strangers. They don’t always look scary; they could be nice and look like every-day-good-people.

Our school age children should be taught that it is not okay to talk to strangers when they’re not under our supervision and teach them to say to someone who insists on talking with them “I am not supposed to talk to strangers.” Teach them never to go anywhere with a stranger. Teach them to firmly say “NO” when they are offered something by an unknown person and they should not remain close to such a person and if the stranger becomes forceful, they should yell for help or go to someone they are familiar with and tell them that someone offered them a treat or something.
