HOW TO GAIN CONTROL OF YOUR CLASS

If you’ve ever lost control of your class, the following strategies can help you gain back control. Taking the right steps will make it work for you and also for your pupils.
Take a stand when you give instructions. Be firm. Let them know that it’s not business as usual. You may need to repeat an instruction before it really sinks in, but let them know you are serious and your instructions must be carried out before progressing to other tasks.
Establish a new routine in your class.  It could be instructing them to line up before leaving the classroom for break, raise their hands if they have questions. Be consistent and firm about these routines too. A classroom of learning and respect is built on established routines.
Learn to listen to your pupils. Do not be distant. Form relationships with them but do not become too familiar with them. The friendlier and more easygoing you are the better your strategy will work. Find a balance between being your pupils’ Teacher and Friend.
Take everything one day at a time and you’ll see results.
