BRINGING OUT THE BEST IN YOUR CHILD
Parenting is beautiful. We don’t have to be super hero parents for us to know that we are doing the right thing, raising them properly or providing the best for them. We can help them achieve their potentials through very simple ways; as listed below.
Our children don’t really need so much from us, what they really want from us is ‘Love, acceptance, security, guidance and kindheartedness’. Give them all these and watch them glow and bring out the best in them.
Encouragement
Encouragement is a good form of motivation. Always encourage your children. A child may have issues with his/her academics, sports, friends and difficulty fitting in, but lots of encouragement and a little push can make a huge difference. No talking down on your child.
Speak sweetly
Sweet words and endearing terms make children feel special and valuable. It makes them feel loved and creates a sense of belonging. It also instills in them a strong identity.
Always have fun with them
Sometimes just act silly with your children. Have real fun with them. Have pillow fights, dance or blow bubbles with them. There are lots of spontaneous things you could do with your children. It makes you accessible and fun to be with. It also strengthens your connection with them.
Ask for their help
Allow them to step in, by asking for their help in doing a few things, no matter how little. Make them feel they are in charge. It boosts their confidence and makes them want to help out more. Always say thank you to them whenever they help out.
Lean back
Let your children learn by experience how capable they are. Allow them make mistakes or fail in getting things done the first time. Give them the chance to learn, let them keep trying out until they get it right. Always running to their aid makes them feel they cannot do anything on their own and they will constantly rely on you to help out.
Learn new skills together
If your child needs to learn a new skill or needs help with practicing something new, go ahead and join them. Learn together or show them how it’s done. Working together as a team in a loving way is a good morale booster for children.
